Penis Size Measurement Issues
Size doesn’t matter, it’s in the performance. That saying and its many variations have been thrown around a lot these days, describing everything from cars to guns to high-tech gadgets. Frankly speaking though, one can possibly conclude that this statement came from a discussion about penis sizes. While there is no concrete evidence that will cement its origins, it’s not rocket science that penis length is believed to be one of the male’s sources of ego. As they largely claim, bigger is better.
But really, how do you measure the size of your member? Nope, it’s not as easy as taking out a normal ruler and sticking it side-by-side with your penis.
What makes it trickier are the various measurements you may have heard or read about. From your friend who’s kind of eager to share the information to male porn stars parading huge figures, you may often wonder if what they’re saying is true or not. Even you may have experienced the urge to exaggerate a little bit. It’s not like somebody would suddenly come out of nowhere carrying a measuring instrument and take a shot at proving you wrong, right?
First off, several scientific studies have shown that the average penis length ranges from 5 to 6.5 inches, although this figure is still not that reliable. Most adult film stars list their penis sizes from 10 inches to 13 inches. That’s pretty much an inch longer than a school ruler. For a quick glance, take out a bond paper of normal size, namely 8.5 inches in length. If one male can claim to have a penis size that is more or less that long, you cannot be blamed for doubting such boasts.
There are several factors that come into play when determining the average size of a male’s penis. First off, there is a difference in the types of erection a man can have. You have to determine the peak of your erection if you want to have the optimum measurement, and that alone might be hard to establish. Plus, the starting point of your measurement can yield different numbers as well.
You also have to consider the person doing the measurement, and this makes it even more complicated. During the 50s and 60s, a man by the name of Alfred Kinsey tried to come up with an average length figure by conducting a test to 3,500 males. The subjects were given postcards, and they were asked to mark the peak of their erection. Around 2,500 men gave their marked papers, and in this response, Kinsey came up with an average measurement of 6.25 inches. This methodology was later replicated in 1996, and that test gave a result of 6.38 inches.
But honesty is not really a policy by men regarding penis sizes. It is also discovered that even when promised anonymity, most men would still lie about the exact measurement. This self-reportage bias is not only limited to these types of surveys, and it is a phenomenon that makes the task even more complicated than what it should be. Also, if you’re the one attempting to make the test, you should consider factors such as race, because not all races are created equal in a sense when it comes to size endowment.
So is it really an impossible task? While you can be honest with yourself, can you really go out there, do a survey, and achieve results that are tainted as little as possible? There are a lot of things to take into consideration, but through rigorous testing, one can ultimately come up with a satisfactory figure that can respectfully represent the male sex organ in a neutral way.
